Most recently (2022), around a quarter of all Germans played the lottery occasionally. The most popular lottery game among Germans is LOTTO 6aus49. As the chances of winning are only around 1:140 million per pick, lottery pools are very popular. Instead of trying their luck alone, around 5 million people, i.e. one in four lottery players, are active in lottery pools. These groups even play 3.5 times more often than individuals. However, lottery pools are not without their hurdles: Bureaucracy and legal certainty must also be guaranteed among friends and acquaintances. For this reason, the lottery app provider, Next Lotto GmbH, is adding the "Tip Teams" feature to its existing apps from December 2023. The extension will be available for the two apps "Clever Lotto" and "Lotto Scanner".
